Open Lab Day in Tulsa P.T. Program

Yesterday the P.T. students had open lab day. They were allowed to re-make one compound of their choosing. Some made muscle-rub, hand sanitizer, Vicks (equivalent), and wound care ointment. It is so incredible that they will know how to compound when they get to their intern sites. End of the block session is coming fast and we will be sending out some students to their intern sites. They will be missed but success is awaiting!

Dental Assistants become root canal specialist!

Today at Platt College in Moore Oklahoma we are learning the fundamentals of root canals. Each student is performing root canals on real teeth that we have here at the school. Here in the dental class we feel it important for students to work on real teeth when possible. It's a very exciting day and a lot is being learned!

Pharmacy Technicians at Platt College Tulsa are making troches today...a medication delivery system that can be chewed. Very reminiscent of the little waxy coke bottles we had as children. This way patients could get their medication by chewing the little flavored wax squares and would not need water. Every day is an adventure into pharmacy services!

Today is going to be GREAT! We are going to practice once again for the Pharmacy Technician National Examination and further explore the exciting world of percentage preparations in compounding pharmaceuticals! Students are saying they love compounding as much as making I.V. solutions. Two students finished their internships yesterday and have interviews today. Good luck to both. Platt Tulsa Pharmacy Program rolls on...

Chocolate Mousse

Pharmacy Students at Platt College Tulsa learned about the Culinary Program's chocolate mousse...they said I had to "dish" on it so others would know how incredible it is. At this rate we all will need Uloric for our excess uric acid levels. It was the bomb though. Great Job Tulsa Culinary!

Practice National Pharmacy Examination

We at Platt College Tulsa had an incredible day practicing for the real National Pharmacy Exam yesterday...much was realized and even more was anticipated! Today the students learned that you could use alligations on almost ALL percentage problems. Learning is COOL!

Even more opportunity exists due to the average age of lab professionals is over 50 and retirement and turnover creates new job openings.

Our classes start soon and you can be on your way to a great Professional Medical Career.
We also have MLT programs at our Platt Campus in Tulsa and Dallas.

Question and Answer that may help assist you!

What does the MLT or Lab Technician do?
The MLT play a major role in health care. Many professionals working in this field use the phrase, or are considered " The Diagnostician behind the Physician".

The laboratory professional (MLT) will evaluate and analyze patient specimens such as blood and other body fluids collected from patient and received into the lab. They analyze numerous types of tests and interpret results from these samples. These results assist or can simply determine a diagnosis, which helps the doctor treat the patient.
So you see we are a little "behind the scenes" like CSI, but play a big role in helping the doctor make a diagnosis and decide the best treatment of his patient.

The MLT reviews blood smears which may contain abnormal cells resulting with the diagnosis of cancer, or test body fluid and report findings consistent with a urinary tract infection. These are just a few of the many lab test run by an MLT.

Just Remember-most times when someone is ill and has to visit a doctor, they may want to
"run some tests" to help determine the diagnosis, or determine which antibiotic is most effective for treating certain infections. YOU COULD BE THE MLT or lab professional running those test, and reporting accurate results that help make the diagnosis for the patient.
