Question and Answer that may help assist you!

What does the MLT or Lab Technician do?
The MLT play a major role in health care. Many professionals working in this field use the phrase, or are considered " The Diagnostician behind the Physician".

The laboratory professional (MLT) will evaluate and analyze patient specimens such as blood and other body fluids collected from patient and received into the lab. They analyze numerous types of tests and interpret results from these samples. These results assist or can simply determine a diagnosis, which helps the doctor treat the patient.
So you see we are a little "behind the scenes" like CSI, but play a big role in helping the doctor make a diagnosis and decide the best treatment of his patient.

The MLT reviews blood smears which may contain abnormal cells resulting with the diagnosis of cancer, or test body fluid and report findings consistent with a urinary tract infection. These are just a few of the many lab test run by an MLT.

Just Remember-most times when someone is ill and has to visit a doctor, they may want to
"run some tests" to help determine the diagnosis, or determine which antibiotic is most effective for treating certain infections. YOU COULD BE THE MLT or lab professional running those test, and reporting accurate results that help make the diagnosis for the patient.
